"The greatest variety of programs, types of schools and a very open academic system that allows students to think, explore and experiment are what stands out in U.S. education," said Scott Robinson, director of American Cultural Center during an interview with the Taiwan News on Sept. 23. Best in the world "I firmly believe the U.S. offers the best education in the world," he added. According to Robinson, since the late 1940s, Taiwan has been among the Top 10 sources of foreign students in the U.S and has ranked fifth or sixth in recent years. Despite the fluctuations in the U.S. economy last year. Robinson believes the economy has little influence on recruiting foreign students. "U.S. universities value foreign students," he said, "They are keen on recruiting and compete for the best students." Musing about his childhood, Robinson shared his experiences with foreign students. He first knew about Taiwan from his classmates in elementary school. "When people study in another country they come to understand the culture and people first hand," he said. "The chance to meet people from other countries was a very important experience in my life." Finding the information EducationUSA is a project launched by the U.S. Department of State to encourage more foreign students to come to the U.S. for education. It is a global network which includes 450 advising centers world wide.
Promotion arms "With more than 4,000 colleges and universities in the U.S.," said Robinson, "there's a school for everybody." "But every school has different advantages," he added, "Consult EducationUSA and do some research to find the most suitable school." |
